I Surrender

How is it possible to achieve THREE, 3, TRES, the TRIFECTA of stomach flu viruses within the short span of 4 months? How? Do the nasty little critters see me coming when I pull into the Target parking lot? Do they whistle to their buddies who are hanging out on the carts having only recently been deposited there by some drooly other 2-yr-old? Do they stand at attention, line up and march into the preferred orifices of my previously clean children to set up camp, have their parties and depart out of a usually different orifice from whence they came? Do they sniff us out....waiting on the door handles of every public building within a 25 mile radius and say, "No, no, they only have 3 kids who are all old enough to reach the bathroom in time and none of them are in diapers, where's the sport in that? No, let's wait for you-know-who and HER kids!"

Last week, when all four of them were puking uncontrollably on my person, my carpets, my beds, and my furniture, I thought to myself, that's it, I'm going to throw in the towel, but then I realized that since all of my towels were full of chunky puke, I'd probably just get the towel thrown right back at me. So instead I sopped up the barf, wiped up the poo and whispered my concession of surrender to the vermin and lo and behold, my husband and myself were given a pass.

We're well now, thanking God for our health and for cheap towels from Target.

That's horrible! We've been sick a lot this spring too. Seems like we have stomach stuff one week, then and upper resp infection the next...then the GI stuff, then the snotty stuff, then the poopy stuff, then the coughy green stuff...I give up. The docs keep saying it's what happens with kids in daycare...but I know your kids aren't in daycare so that doesn't 'splain it to me.

I don't remember ever being this sick as a kid. Hang in there. Hopefully summer will kill all these things. The other day I saw someone power washing the carts at Target and was incredibly thankful. I hope all this illness is making you, me, and all of us stronger.

Yes, but my nanny works at a daycare--ah! I don't think it matters, it's just a crummy season. My kids are going to be powerfully immune if it is making us stronger.
