Double trouble. Terrible twos. Insert your favorite dualistic phrases here. I never ever knew what people meant about "terrible twos" because Gabby was so colicky and had so many sleep issues that two wasn't any big deal. She never really got into anything because we were pretty busy doting on her. Once the twins were born I think she just realized that she'd better come up with ideas to entertain herself. So as the months leading up to Wyatt & Bella's 2nd birthday drew nearer, I began to experience firsthand the origins of the phrases. My twinks leave no door unopened, no chair/table/toy/stool/furniture item unclimbed upon, no item left lying in its original location, no shoe untried on, no toilet paper roll unravelled, no cry uncried and no whine unwhined. THEY GET INTO EVERYTHING. And then they find something else and get into that too. I won't say it, no I won't call my own beautiful babies "terrible", but they are most definitely two.
On their actual birthday we made cakes and Gabby played dress up with her brother and sister (see photos below). Hey, Wyatt, ha ha to you in 15 years!
I had their pictures taken for their birthday. The outfits were so cute and so "matchy" and I was all excited because I thought they were old enough to handle the photo shoot--previous experience should have told me differently. They screamed, ran around the studio and/or cried the entire time. HOWEVER, this photographer is the most excellent and professional children's photographer and she captured some beautiful images of my twins. If you want to see a preview of the photo session you have to go here and then do some work by clicking on "News". Once you are in her blog, if you scroll down you'll see an entry entitled "Twin Preview". Sorry to make you do all the work, but I couldn't directly link to that entry because of the type of blog she uses.
Here's a little video of the birthday cake.
Pics from that day:
Year 3 is sure to bring it's share of crazy mixed in with potty training accidents, getting up from their big girl and big boy beds, trying to escape from the house and yard and various other antics which I could never even dream of but which Wyatt and Bella are secretly plotting even now as they lay peacefully sleeping upstairs.
Happy Birthday my little monkey monsters. If you'd have been born apart, my life wouldn't be half as interesting or fun. I would never know the type of love that can cause you one minute to heinously tackle someone in an attempt on their life while the next minute hug and kiss them and whisper"I miiiiiiiss you Wyatt--I miiiiis you BewWa". Twins.
